Dr. Dvorkin first learned of Relational Life Therapy (RLT) from a presentation at HVPA by Dr. Patti Knoblauch more than a decade ago. Already studying models for couples therapy, she began Relational Life Therapy training and has been practicing in this modality over the past decade. The workshop will focus on the origins, principles and applications of RLT. Dr. Dvorkin notes that “this model overlaps with many wise approaches and yet has unique features, particularly in its application.” Dr. Dvorkin will be sharing several case studies and will invite the group to participate in some exercises.
Dr. Dvorkin is a Clinical Psychologist with over 35 years of varied clinical experience, and with a strong background in couples therapy and recovery work. She graduated from Yeshiva University, Ferkauf School in 1990. She completed extensive post-doctoral training, including: a fellowship in medical psychology in HIV/AIDS; Group Therapy with Eastern Group Psychotherapy Society; Psychoanalytic training at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies four year psychoanalytic program. She started her training in couples therapy with Imago Couples Therapy, then worked and trained in PACT (Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy, founded by Stan Tatkin). She then trained in Relational Life Therapy with Terry Real. Dr. Dvorkin observes, “I felt a deep resonance in the experience of integrating recovery work within the couples therapy approach.”
